what we do
Located Green Street Park in Ridgway, at the intersection of Green Street and Marion Overlook, the Ridgway Community Garden supports community cultivation of healthy, organic produce. The community garden was started in 2007 and operated on a private parcel on S Laura St before re-opening at the current location on Green Street on May 18, 2019.
The garden is a place of learning, mentorship, stewardship, and community building. We promote water conservation and chemical-free practices.
We currently rent 50, one-foot tall beds and 4, waist-high beds to assist gardeners with physical challenges.
Our Master Gardner provides resources, workshops and "bed-side" chats to empower gardening in a high-elevation, short-growing season environment that experiences extremes in precipitation, temperatures, and wind.
We believe in and support our greater community by donating produce to the Ouray County Food Pantry, partnering with local schools on service projects and offering experiential activities to local youth.
